On December 21st, it was learned from China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. that the Shanshan high-speed railway section from Shantou to Shantou South will be completed and opened on December 22nd, with a fastest travel time of 1 hour and 50 minutes from Guangzhou East to Shantou and 1 hour and 39 minutes from Shenzhen North to Shantou. As a key part of the Yan-Guang high-speed railway network, which is part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network along the coast, the Shanshan high-speed railway main line is 162 kilometers long and designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It runs like a silver dragon through the eastern Guangdong region, passing through the cities and counties of Shantou, Jieyang, and Shanwei, connecting seven stations including Shantou South, Chaonan, Huilai, and Lufeng East, with Shantou and Shanwei stations at the ends, and connecting to the city center of Guangzhou via the Guangzhou-Shantou high-speed railway.
