Turkey and Hamas hold consultations on issues related to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire.
On December 20th local time, the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, Karin, met with Hamas's chief negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya, and his delegation in Istanbul. Both sides exchanged views on creating necessary conditions for transitioning to the second stage of the Gaza ceasefire, as well as current issues and response measures. Hamas stated that they were abiding by the ceasefire regulations and informed the Turkish side of any violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli side that they were aware of. The meeting also discussed Turkey's efforts as a guarantor to implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement and how to prevent further violations by Israel. Both sides reiterated their commitment to promoting the Palestinian national reconciliation process and working towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
