On December 19th local time, the United Nations Secretary-General, through his spokesperson Dujarric, issued a statement strongly condemning the Houthi armed forces in Yemen for arbitrarily detaining 10 more UN staff on December 18th, bringing the total number of detained UN staff to 69. The statement pointed out that this action has made the UN's humanitarian assistance work in Houthi-controlled areas unsustainable, directly affecting millions of people in need of assistance and severely restricting their access to life-saving aid opportunities.
