In October, Canada's retail sales fell by 0.2% from the previous month, but it is expected to increase in November.
As the holiday season approaches, Canadians are flocking to stores to shop, preliminary statistics show that after a recent period of sluggish sales, sales in November rebounded. The Canadian Statistics Bureau said on Friday that retail sales in November are expected to increase by 1.2% from October. This will be the strongest growth since June. Retail sales in October fell by 0.2% month-on-month, seasonally adjusted to 69.44 billion Canadian dollars, or about 50.39 billion U.S. dollars. Sales in September were revised downward to a decrease of 0.9%. The Statistics Canada did not provide detailed information on the November forecast, which is based on responses from 60% of surveyed retailers and will be revised. This indicates a strong start to a crucial period for retailers, including Black Friday sales and consumer expectations for the holiday season.
