Chinese People's Property Insurance Co., Ltd. former party committee member and chairman of the supervisory board, Zhang Xiaoli, was sentenced to ten and a half years in the first instance.

On December 19, the Intermediate People's Court of Dongying City, Shandong Province, publicly sentenced Zhang Xiaoli, former member of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of People's Insurance Company of China, for bribery. The defendant Zhang Xiaoli was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison for bribery, and fined one million RMB. The illegal gains from Zhang Xiaoli's bribery were confiscated and turned over to the national treasury. It was found through the trial that from July 2009 to September 2024, Zhang Xiaoli used his positions as the Secretary-General of the Board of Directors/Office of the Supervisory Board, member of the Party Committee, Vice President, and senior expert of People's Insurance Company of China to directly or through other state workers, benefit related units and individuals in contracting insurance business, fund disbursement, personnel recruitment, and work adjustment, illegally accepting a total of over 9.9 million RMB in cash and goods.
