The World Health Organization certifies Brazil for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
On December 18th, local time, the World Health Organization officially certified that Brazil has eliminated the mother-to-child transmission of the HIV virus. According to the statement, Brazil has fully met the certification criteria for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of the HIV virus, including: keeping the vertical transmission rate below 2%, achieving a coverage rate of antenatal care for pregnant women, routine HIV testing rate, and timely treatment rate for infected individuals all exceeding 95%.
