Ken Griffin, founder of Citadel Investment Group, said that the Republican Party is working to address some policies regarding tariffs and immigration, which are causing inflation to rise. However, the relaxation of regulations emphasized by the Republicans will ultimately help curb the rise in prices. Griffin, speaking in an interview at a meeting in Paris on Tuesday, said: "Republicans are struggling to face this reality: many of the policies they proposed during the election, such as banning illegal immigration into the United States, are actually causing inflation to rise." He said, "When you stop the flow of illegal immigrants, you reduce the available labor force, which is inflationary." However, Griffin also stated that in the long run, relaxing regulations "should lead to an increase in productivity, which will in turn bring down inflation." Federal Reserve officials cut interest rates for the third consecutive time at last week's meeting, but also signaled that further cuts were not set in stone. Some policymakers are concerned that inflation is still above the Fed's 2% target, while others are more focused on a slowdown in the labor market. Griffin also mentioned that he believes there is a divergence in the reaction of the bond market and the stock market regarding issues of inflation and regulatory relaxation.
