Benson: Fed chairman interviews will be conducted again this week, Trump expected to announce the candidate in early January.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Benard said that he will conduct one or two more interviews for the next chairman of the Federal Reserve this week, and President Donald Trump is likely to announce his choice in early January next year. "Everything is going according to the president's pace," Benard said on Fox Business Channel on Tuesday. "He has always been very, very cautious," and "he is very straightforward when asking candidates about their views on Federal Reserve policy, structure, future direction, and the economy." Benard also praised two candidates - National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh - as "very, very qualified."
