In early December, a clash occurred between several high-level executives of Pinduoduo and officials from the market supervision bureau at Pinduoduo's office in Shanghai, leading to their detention. On December 16th, a source close to Pinduoduo told Caixin that due to the "fighting incident that occurred on December 3rd", several employees from Pinduoduo's government relations department were dismissed.
