China General Nuclear Power Ningde Nuclear Power Project Phase II Unit 6 started construction today.
The No. 6 unit of the CGN Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Station has completed the first pouring of concrete for the nuclear island, marking the official start of the main engineering of the unit. The Ningde Nuclear Power Project is located in Tailaoshan Town, Fuding City, Fujian Province, with a planned construction of 6 million-kilowatt nuclear power units in two phases, making it the first nuclear power plant in Fujian Province to start construction and operation. Among them, the No. 5 and No. 6 units of the second phase of the project both adopt China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One." It is understood that facing challenges such as limited site space and complex geological conditions, the Ningde Nuclear Power Project team fully draws on CGN's previous experience in constructing "Hualong One" units to ensure the steady progress of key milestones. Currently, the overall construction of the second phase of the Ningde Nuclear Power Project is progressing in an orderly manner, and the No. 5 unit has entered the peak phase of main engineering construction. "Hualong One" is China's independently developed third-generation nuclear power technology, with an annual power generation of nearly 10 billion kilowatt-hours per unit, equivalent to replacing the consumption of over 3.05 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 9.24 million tons, equivalent to afforesting 22,500 hectares. It can meet the annual electricity demand for production and living of one million people.
