The Sydney Bondi Beach shooting has left 16 people dead. The two suspected gunmen are father and son.
On Sunday evening, a father and son opened fire on a group of Jewish people gathered at Sydney's iconic Bondi Beach to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah, resulting in 16 deaths and becoming the deadliest terrorist attack in Australian history. New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed on Monday that the suspects were a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son from the western suburbs of the city. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation cited law enforcement sources identifying the two gunmen as Naveed Akram and his father Sajid. Lanyon stated that the father killed in the shooting had held the firearms for 10 years and had a license for six weapons. Police recovered six guns from the scene, which they were satisfied with. Lanyon also mentioned that two live improvised explosive devices were found and safely dismantled. Police are no longer seeking a third suspect.
