On December 12, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Macau University's Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone campus was held at the site of the Macau University campus in the southwest of the cooperation zone. The campus is scheduled to be fully completed by 2029. Macau SAR Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, and Huang Liuquan, Deputy Director of the Macau Liaison Office, attended the ceremony. Macau University President Song Yonghua stated that as a pioneering project in the Macau-Hengqin International Education City, Macau University is extending its educational reach and constructing a campus in the cooperation zone. The campus will house a medical school, information science school, engineering school, and design school, with the goal of creating an innovative research platform with interdisciplinary studies. The Macau University cooperation zone campus project will have a total land area of approximately 375,600 square meters and a construction area of approximately 831,000 square meters. The construction period is expected to be 3 years, with partial use planned for 2028 and full completion in 2029.
