The Chinese delegation attends the 2025 International Tokamak Physics Activities Coordination Committee meeting.
The official WeChat account of the China International Fusion Energy Program Executing Center announced today that from December 3rd to 5th, the annual meeting of the International Tokamak Physics Activity Coordination Committee will be held at the headquarters of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor. As the ITER project enters the critical assembly stage, the research scope of ITPA has expanded from physics research to both physics and engineering research. The number of specialized groups under ITPA has increased from seven to nine, including two new specialized groups focused on tokamak engineering and operation. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the activities and achievements of theoretical research, joint experiments, and conference discussions carried out by ITPA in 2025, and discussed the proposed collaborative research plans for the next year. The meeting decided that the next chairperson of the ITPA Coordination Committee will be Chinese expert Duan Xuru, Chief Scientist of China National Nuclear Corporation, with a term from 2026 to 2028.
