The Korean Workers' Party convenes a plenary meeting to summarize its work in the economy, national defense, and other areas.

According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 12th, the 13th expanded plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held from the 9th to the 11th, summarizing the main work of the Korean Party and State for the year 2025. Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, presided over the meeting. Kim Jong Un stated that the main industrial sectors of the North Korean national economy have completed the production plan expansion, the agricultural sector has achieved higher grain production than last year, and many important projects have been excellently completed. This year's economic development goals and the current five-year plan have been achieved as a result. Kim Jong Un noted that the North Korean national defense forces have achieved meaningful results in line with modernization policies, and in the past year, various branches of the North Korean military have achieved military successes overseas. The celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea this year have strengthened the steadfast will to build a socialist society. Kim Jong Un also discussed a series of major tasks facing the North Korean Party, government, and state institutions. The report stated that the plenary meeting adopted agendas including a summary of the execution of policies for the year 2025 by the Korean Party and State, the work of the Central Inspection Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in 2025, and the main issues related to the preparations for the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
