On Thursday, Apple (AAPL.O) successfully convinced a U.S. appeals court to partially reverse a court order that required Apple to make adjustments to its lucrative App Store to promote greater competition. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled in a lawsuit brought by Epic Games that a judge's order issued in April, which found Apple in contempt of court for violating a previous ruling, was overly broad and needed to be modified. However, the appeals court upheld most of the contempt finding and the injunction previously issued against Apple. A panel of three judges modified a lower court's ruling that prohibited Apple from taking any commission or fees on purchases not made on its platform. The appeals court stated that the trial judge must now modify this part of his order.
