"Tesla's rival" Rivian introduces AI chip to replace Nvidia products in future models.
According to reports, the "Tesla rival" and US electric car company Rivian is developing its own artificial intelligence chip to replace NVIDIA's technology as part of a wider initiative to enhance and expand its autonomous driving capabilities in future vehicles. Rivian will equip its upcoming R2 sport utility vehicle with Rivian's autonomous driving processor chip and new LiDAR sensors. TSMC will be responsible for producing these chips, and the development of new sensors and artificial intelligence models will help Rivian ultimately achieve its goal of providing autonomous driving capabilities. It is reported that two RAP1 chips will power Rivian's new generation in-vehicle computer, the Autonomy Compute Module 3, which can process 5 billion pixels per second, performance four times that of the NVIDIA system in Rivian's current models.
