The European Commission said that it will "ensure" the payment of the 120 million euro fine imposed on the social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, for violating transparency rules. The European Commission announced last Friday that X had violated transparency obligations and rules on deceptive interface design under the EU's Digital Services Act, leading to the decision to impose a 120 million euro fine. European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier, in response to questions from reporters at a regular press briefing, said, "X must pay this fine. The 120 million euros must be paid, and we will make sure to receive this money." He noted that X still has the opportunity to challenge the decision in court. "Procedural steps need to be followed, and any decision made by the Commission can be challenged in the EU court." X has not yet indicated whether they will appeal.
