The European Commission announced last Friday that X had violated transparency obligations and rules on deceptive interface design under the EU's Digital Services Act, leading to the decision to impose a 120 million euro fine. European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier, in response to questions from reporters at a regular press briefing, said, "X must pay this fine. The 120 million euros must be paid, and we will make sure to receive this money." He noted that X still has the opportunity to challenge the decision in court. "Procedural steps need to be followed, and any decision made by the Commission can be challenged in the EU court." X has not yet indicated whether they will appeal.
