At present, it is the time when a large amount of medicinal herbs such as Angelica and Codonopsis are newly produced and put on the market. In a street in Anguo, Hebei, the largest distribution center of medicinal herbs in North China, which specializes in Angelica and Codonopsis, new medicinal herbs are continuously on the market, but prices continue to decline. A seller said, "The prices are going down as new products are coming in. Angelica was selling for about 70 to 80 yuan per kilogram last year in November and December, but now it has dropped by about 30 to 40 yuan." It is understood that from 2020 to 2023, the prices of medicinal herbs continued to rise, stimulating large-scale expansion by growers, leading to a concentrated surge in production capacity. In October, out of the 571 varieties monitored by the Anguo medicinal herb price index, prices of 152 varieties fell, accounting for approximately 26.62%.
