According to reports, OpenAI is planning to make its first response to Google Gemini 3 through the upcoming release of GPT-5.2. The original plan to release GPT-5.2 at the end of December is now expected to be moved up to December 9th. On December 1st, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman informed employees in an internal memo that he would be initiating a "red alert" emergency status to improve ChatGPT.
