The US Department of State: The US and Ukraine had "constructive discussions" on the "peace plan".
On December 5th local time, the US State Department stated that over the past two days, US special envoy Volker, President Trump's son-in-law Kushner, and officials from the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, including Secretary Umerov, had "constructive discussions" on credible ways to advance Ukraine towards achieving lasting, just, and peaceful solutions. The State Department said that participants discussed the outcomes of recent US-Russia meetings and steps that could help end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The US and Ukraine reached an agreement on a security framework and discussed necessary "deterrence capabilities". Secretary Umerov reiterated that Ukraine's top priority is to ensure a solution that protects its independence and sovereignty. Both the US and Ukraine believe that real progress on any agreement depends on whether Russia is willing to demonstrate a genuine commitment to long-term peace. The State Department stated that US and Ukrainian representatives will meet again on the 6th to continue the negotiations.
