The People's Government of Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province reported on December 6 that on December 1, during an inspection, the county's transportation department found that the construction site of part of the provincial road 219 reconstruction project was encroaching on forest land. They immediately required the construction unit, Sichuan Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd., affiliated to the S219 project, to rectify the greening. In the afternoon of December 2, some people reported that the construction unit had falsely rectified the situation. After an investigation by the relevant county departments, they immediately requested the construction unit to correct it and replant qualified seedlings such as red leaf photinia according to the standards. In the afternoon of December 4, the county's transportation, forestry, and project departments went to the site for acceptance inspection, and the greening rectification work had been completed. This incident has exposed the lack of responsibility and weak awareness of laws and discipline of the construction unit, and the weak links in rectification supervision. Qingyang County has legally initiated investigations and accountability for the construction unit and related departments, strengthened comprehensive supervision, rigidly implemented ecological restoration standards, and ensured that greening and afforestation achieve the expected results.
