On December 5th, Wang Dayan, a researcher at the virus institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, stated at a press conference held by the National Health Commission that currently, 17 provinces in the country are experiencing a high level of influenza activity, while the remaining provinces are at a moderate level. The positivity rate of influenza virus detection among patients with flu-like symptoms visiting emergency departments has reached 51%, which is not higher than the highest level in the past three years. There has been a continuous increase in reports of school outbreaks, with the positivity rate for cases aged 5 to 14 significantly higher than other age groups. According to recent monitoring data, it is highly likely that the peak of influenza activity in the country will occur in mid-December. The influenza A H3N2 subtype virus continues to be the dominant strain, accounting for over 95% of cases, with a small amount of influenza A H1N1 and influenza B viruses circulating simultaneously.
