Peru declares state of emergency in order to combat crime.
On December 4th, local time, the Peruvian government announced that parts of the La Libertad province in the northwest, Madre de Dios province in the southeast, and Loreto province in the northeast of the country will enter a 60-day state of emergency to strengthen measures against illegal mining, drug trafficking, organized crime, and border threats. The Peruvian government emphasized that this action aims to consolidate the country's presence in key areas, protect the population, and continue to combat threats to national security.
