On December 4th, the Tokyo Electric Power Company began the 17th round of releasing nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean. According to the Tokyo Electric Power Company, this round is planned to release around 7800 tons by the 22nd. In August 2023, despite widespread international criticism and strong opposition from relevant countries, Japan forcefully initiated and continued to release the accumulated 1.34 million tons of nuclear contaminated water since the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011. From the start of the releases until the 16th round, the total amount released has reached 125488 tons.
