As of mid-November, oceanic and atmospheric indicators have reached critical thresholds for La Nia status. Although La Nia events typically bring temporary cooling effects, many regions will continue to experience warmer-than-average weather. La Nia is characterized by widespread and persistent cooling of sea surface temperatures in the eastern and central equatorial Pacific Ocean.
