Astronomers have observed the largest cosmic rotation structure, providing a new perspective for studying the formation of early galaxies.
An international team led by the University of Oxford in the UK has confirmed the largest cosmic rotation structure ever observed - a galaxy chain embedded about 140 million light-years away from Earth in a massive rotating cosmic filament described as "razor-sharp". It is known as a "fossil record of cosmic flow" and provides a new perspective for studying early galaxy formation in the universe. The discovery was published on the 4th in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
