Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention: The national influenza epidemic is overall at a high level of transmission.
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention released the national surveillance data on acute respiratory infectious diseases today. The monitoring results show that in the 48th week, the proportion of flu-like cases reported by sentinel hospitals across the country accounted for 9.6% of the total number of emergency room visits; the top three pathogens in respiratory samples testing positive for flu-like cases in emergency rooms of sentinel hospitals were influenza virus, rhinovirus, and respiratory syncytial virus; the top three pathogens in respiratory samples testing positive for severe acute respiratory infections in hospitalized cases were influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, and rhinovirus. There are regional and age differences in the monitoring results. Currently, China has entered the peak season for respiratory infectious diseases, and the epidemic is generally on the rise, with the flu epidemic at a high level and some activity of respiratory syncytial virus and rhinovirus. To prevent the spread of respiratory infectious diseases, it is recommended that key institutions such as childcare facilities, schools, nursing homes, etc. conduct health monitoring, promptly detect and control outbreaks, and reduce the impact of the epidemic; the public should take the following personal protective measures.
