On the afternoon of December 4th, Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang met with French President Emmanuel Macron, who was visiting China for a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Li Keqiang stated that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-France relations and cooperation have made many new advances and achievements. This morning, President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Mr. Macron, pointing out the direction for further deepening the relationship between the two countries. As major global economies and permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and France maintain close strategic communication and carry out coordinated and effective actions, which not only benefits the two sides in developing together, but also injects more stability and certainty into the turbulent world. China is willing to continue working together with France to carry forward traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen all-round cooperation, and elevate the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. Li Keqiang pointed out that as long-term important economic and trade partners, China and France have strong economic complementarity, multiple points of converging interests, and a solid foundation for cooperation. By further tightening economic and trade ties, we can gather greater development momentum and better promote prosperity through mutual achievements. China is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with France, expand bilateral opening up, strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as aviation, aerospace, civil nuclear energy, and accelerate collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, green development, and silver economy. China supports Chinese companies investing in France, and hopes that France will provide a fair and favorable business environment. Currently, unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, and there are increasing international trade frictions and disputes. The more this is the case, the more timely communication and deep understanding are needed from all parties, seeking common ground while reserving differences, taking practical actions, and addressing each other's legitimate concerns. We hope France will promote the EU to adhere to the positioning of China-EU partners, implement the consensus reached by both sides, focus on cooperation, handle differences properly, and maintain the correct development direction of China-EU relations. China is willing to work together with France to firmly uphold free trade and economic globalization. Macron stated that this morning, I had a fruitful meeting with President Xi Jinping, outlining a vision for the continued deepening development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between France and China. Congratulations to China on its significant achievements in economic and social development in recent years, and pleased to see China's continued economic growth. China's rapid development in science and technology innovation has put it at the forefront in many fields. France is willing to enhance exchanges and dialogues at all levels with China, expand mutual opening up and mutual investment, deepen cooperation in various fields including economy and trade, agriculture, aerospace, aviation, civil nuclear energy, renewable energy, and jointly explore third-party markets. France is willing to collaborate with China to uphold free trade and the multilateral trading system, and promote the reform and improvement of global governance systems.
