A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Aheqi County, Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. The China Earthquake Administration has activated a Level 3 emergency response.
The China Earthquake Networks Center officially determined that a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in Aheqi County, Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang at 15:44 on December 4, 2025, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The average altitude within 10 kilometers of the epicenter is approximately 2887 meters. After the earthquake, the China Earthquake Administration quickly initiated a Level III emergency response. The Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the China Earthquake Administration, Wang Kun, coordinated the China Earthquake Networks Center and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Earthquake Administration online, listened to the earthquake situation reports, and required relevant departments to conduct joint consultations, strengthen earthquake monitoring and analysis of post-earthquake trends, and timely report relevant information. Currently, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Earthquake Administration has dispatched a field work team to the earthquake-stricken area to assist the local government in emergency response work. It is understood that there are currently no reports of casualties from this earthquake.
