South African President's spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said on social media X on the 4th that South Africa will be "temporarily absent" while serving as the rotating chair of the G20 in the United States until everything returns to normal. He said that around this time next year, the UK will take over as the rotating chair of the G20, at which time South Africa will engage in meaningful and substantive contacts with other countries on important international issues of common concern.
