Kyocera has abandoned the development of 5G base stations, despite being highly anticipated by Japan.

According to Japanese media reports such as Nikkei Asia and Kyodo News, on December 2nd local time, Japanese electronic component giant Kyocera revealed that the company has decided to abandon the development of 5G wireless base stations, citing intense competition in the industry and difficulty in achieving profitability. Currently, over 70% of the global market share for 5G base stations is held by three companies: China's Huawei, Sweden's Ericsson, and Finland's Nokia, while Japanese companies hold less than 2% market share.
