As of now, the total length of the backbone water supply pipelines in Shanxi Province has reached more than 2300 kilometers.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Shanxi Province has invested over 13 billion yuan in the construction of the provincial water network backbone and county-level supporting projects. Several landmark projects have made important progress, including the Central Line Diversion Project of the Yellow River, the Xiaolangdi Diversion Project of the Yellow River, the Wan Jiazhai North and South Branches of the Yellow River Diversion Project, and the connection of the Hu Tuotuo River. Major water diversion projects such as the integration of the Hu Tuotuo River water supply in Taiyuan and the Longhuakou water diversion project in Yangquan have achieved the goal of water delivery. As of now, the length of the provincial backbone water supply pipeline has reached over 2300 kilometers, with a water network coverage rate of 82%, benefiting a population of over 28 million.
