US Treasury Secretary cancels visit to Argentina plan
On December 2, US Treasury Secretary Bezent decided to indefinitely cancel his planned visit to Argentina in early December. This move has raised doubts in the Argentine media about the relationship between the two countries. Before Bezent announced this decision, Argentine President Mile announced on November 28 that he was postponing his trip to the United States. Mile had originally planned to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw ceremony in Washington, D.C. on December 5 and meet with US President Trump. According to Argentina's financial newspaper "Financial World Report," doubts have begun to arise domestically in Argentina about the relationship between the two countries. Analysts pointed out that Argentina has nearly $50 billion in debt due to mature in January 2026 and needs external financing to supplement its foreign exchange reserves. Bezent's cancellation of the visit to Argentina has exposed the risk of the Argentine government's overreliance on the United States.
