Over a hundred prisoners were released in error, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary of the UK: the prison system relies on paper processes, leading to inevitable "human error".
According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation on December 2, a total of 91 prisoners in England and Wales were mistakenly released between April and October this year. Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary David Lammy revealed that in the past three weeks alone, 12 prisoners were mistakenly released, with two still at large. Lammy responded by stating that the country's prison system relies on paper-based processes, inevitably leading to "human error." Lammy said that as long as prisons continue to use paper-based operational systems, "human error" will always occur, but if a "fully digital system" is adopted, the situation will improve. He also mentioned that there was a "spike" in mistaken releases before, but currently there is a "downward trend."
