Competitors are closing in on OpenAI as CEO sounds the "red alert" to boost ChatGPT rapidly.
According to sources familiar with the matter, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is reallocating internal resources to accelerate improvements to ChatGPT and has sounded the "red alert," which will delay work on other projects. One person said that Altman sent an internal memo on Monday, requesting a "blitz" to enhance ChatGPT; as the matter is not public, sources requested anonymity. Reports citing the memo previously stated that Altman also requested employees to postpone progress on other projects such as autonomous AI agents and advertising. Although Altman did not specify which repairs need to be prioritized and why, sources reported that he recently warned employees that Google's resurgence in the AI field could temporarily disadvantage OpenAI economically. OpenAI declined to comment on the news related to Altman's memo.
