The electricity demand of US data centers has been raised by 36%, while the soaring energy consumption of AI has exacerbated worries about a bubble.
According to the latest forecast by research firm BNEF, it is estimated that by 2035, the power demand of data centers in the United States will soar to 106 gigawatts (1 gigawatt is roughly equivalent to the power generation of a nuclear reactor, providing electricity for about 750,000 American households), a significant increase of 36% from the research firm's forecast in April this year. This upward revision in the forecast is mainly driven by a wave of new early-stage data center projects.
