Citibank: The issues with the Airbus A320 sound serious, but the impact may be limited.
The instruction regarding the repair of the Airbus A320 aircraft sounds serious, but Citibank analyst Charles Armitage estimates that its fundamental impact is limited. Regulatory authorities last week forced software repairs and, in some cases, hardware repairs, after a JetBlue Airways-operated Airbus aircraft in October was found to have suffered data damage for flight control due to intense solar radiation interference. According to the urgent order from regulatory authorities, if certain updates are not completed by yesterday, the aircraft may be temporarily grounded. Citibank estimates the cost of software rollback to be between 2.5 to 7.5 million euros, and the cost of hardware replacement to be between 50 to 100 million euros. Armitage also added, "We do not know if Airbus will have to pay compensation."
