The Australian Department of Defence initiates the largest reorganization in 50 years.
On December 1st local time, Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Richard Marles announced at a press conference that the Australian government has launched the largest defense organization restructuring in 50 years to address the long delays and escalating costs of military projects. According to the reform plan, the Australian Department of Defense will integrate several key agencies and establish an independent "Defense Delivery Agency" to ensure that all types of defense projects are carried out and delivered on time and within budget. It was reported that Australia's defense budget will increase from the current $60 billion per year to $100 billion per year by 2034.
