Hong Kong is one of the country's most international cities and can provide comprehensive support for mainland enterprises expanding overseas.
On November 4, HKTDC Chairman Ma Si-hang said in his address at the Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium that this year marks the opening year of the country's 15th Five-Year Plan and also an important year in which Hong Kong is formulating its first five-year plan. He noted that the country's development direction represents Hong Kong's opportunities, and that Hong Kong should leverage its advantages as an international platform and join hands with Beijing and enterprises across the country to explore global markets. Ma described Hong Kong as one of the country's most international cities, capable of providing comprehensive support for mainland enterprises expanding overseas. As a core member of the HKSAR Government's task force on mainland enterprises going global, the HKTDC this year launched the "Go Global Connect," which, through the HKTDC's network of more than 50 offices worldwide and Hong Kong's international professional services, helps mainland enterprises connect with the world, reduce risks, and open up Belt and Road markets such as ASEAN, the Middle East, and Central Asia. He also mentioned that Beijing and Hong Kong have maintained close economic and trade ties for many years. The HKTDC and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission's Beijing Centergate Technologies Administrative Committee this year continued to advance the building of the Beijing-Hong Kong science and technology collaborative innovation platform to promote the matching of innovation and technology resources between the two places. The HKTDC looks forward to continuing to work hand in hand with all sectors in Beijing, giving play to Hong Kong's role as an international platform and the HKTDC's global network, and seizing the opportunities of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
