Peet's Coffee parent company reports first full quarter with consolidated results: Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP.US) Q3 results beat expectations, coffee business spin-off countdown begins
Keurig Dr Pepper's third-quarter net sales increased 70.6% year over year, and adjusted earnings per share rose 22.2%, beating expectations. The company reiterated its full-year guidance.
On November 3, before the U.S. market opened, beverage giant Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP.US) reported its third-quarter 2026 results. The report showed net sales of US$7.34 billion for the quarter, up 70.6% year over year, mainly driven by the consolidation of JDE Peet's, the parent company of Peet's Coffee, following the completion of its acquisition in April, broadly in line with market expectations of about US$7.33 billion; GAAP diluted earnings per share were US$0.59, up 20.4% year over year, above expectations of about US$0.57; adjusted earnings per share were US$0.66, up 22.2% year over year.
Excluding JDE Peet's contribution, net sales of the legacy business rose 8.6%, of which volume and mix contributed 6.5 percentage points. Free cash flow for the quarter was US$1.01 billion.
By segment, the U.S. soft drinks division continued its double-digit growth momentum, with net sales up 10.9% to US$3 billion; the U.S. coffee division's net sales rose 2.7% to US$1 billion, with volume up 6.9% but net price down 4.2%, and US$99 million in tariff refunds for the quarter supported profit; the JDE Peet's segment contributed net sales of US$2.65 billion.
The company reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance, expecting net sales of US$25.9 billion to US$26.4 billion and low-double-digit growth in constant-currency adjusted earnings per share. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cofer said the company is on track to deliver its 2026 financial commitments and is focused on reaching the remaining milestones for the spin-off.
After previously announcing the acquisition of JDE Peet's for about US$18 billion, the company plans to spin off its beverage and coffee businesses into two independent publicly listed companies in early 2027; former Kimberly-Clark Corporation (KMB.US) President Lars Torres officially joined today and will lead the coffee business integration and serve as CEO of the new company after the spin-off.
The acquisition raised the company's long-term debt to about US$21.6 billion, and debt reduction and execution of the spin-off remain key focuses for the market.
