According to statistics from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) of Macao, the Macao economy continued its steady development in the first three quarters of this year. Preliminary GDP figures stood at MOP316.13 billion, a real year-on-year increase of 2.9%, with the total economic volume recovering to 89.8% of the same period in 2019. Benefiting from various visitor-attraction measures and a succession of large-scale themed events, visitor arrivals to Macao continued to rise, driving service exports up 3.4% year on year in the first three quarters. Meanwhile, public and private construction projects progressed in an orderly manner, pushing gross fixed capital formation up 4.6% in the first three quarters, while private consumption expenditure also rose 2.8%, jointly supporting the steady forward development of the overall economy. Analyzed by quarter, the Macao economy maintained positive growth in the third quarter, with preliminary GDP of MOP106.06 billion, a real year-on-year increase of 0.1%, and the total economic volume recovering to 91.3% of the same period in 2019. During the period, affected by external environmental factors, gross gaming revenue of lucky gaming underwent a short-term adjustment, with gaming service exports falling 4.8% year on year. However, benefiting from the summer travel peak and various visitor-attraction measures that boosted visitor arrivals to Macao, other tourism service exports rose 6.6% year on year. Coupled with the accelerated progress of public and private projects, gross fixed capital formation increased significantly by 17.2%, effectively offsetting the impact of the decline in gaming service exports. This reflects Macao's economic resilience and ability to withstand risks, providing support for the steady development of the economy in the third quarter. As Macao-Hengqin integration continues to deepen, investment projects in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperation Zone) involving Macao entities (including public departments, enterprises and individuals) have been increasing. In the third quarter of 2026, gross fixed capital formation in the Cooperation Zone by Macao entities was MOP540 million, a nominal year-on-year increase of 215.3%. After including the gross fixed capital formation of Macao entities in the Cooperation Zone, GDP stood at MOP106.60 billion, a nominal year-on-year increase of 2.6%.
