Gold stocks collectively weakened. As of press time, LINGBAO GOLD (03330) fell 6.33% to HK$15.23; CHINAGOLDINTL (02099) fell 3.99% to HK$170.9; ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259) fell 2.75% to HK$120.3.
On the news front, spot gold today fell below the US$4,000 mark, at US$3,984.13/oz as of press time, down about 0.9% intraday. Huatai Futures believes that market risk sentiment has emerged somewhat at present, with US tech equities once again seeing relatively large declines combined with rising geopolitical risks, market risk appetite has been noticeably suppressed, and demand for gold investment may weaken slightly, so gold prices are expected to be mainly range-bound in the near term.
It is worth noting that the US September core PCE price index rose 3.1% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month, both in line with market expectations. PCE is the inflation indicator the Federal Reserve prioritizes as a reference, with core PCE regarded by Fed officials as the core gauge for judging medium- to long-term inflation trends.
