On October 26, HKEX issued an announcement stating that the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong has approved the relevant exchange rule amendments to tighten the price limit threshold for orders in all securities (excluding structured products) from the current nine times to five times. The new rules will officially take effect on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The "nine-times limit" optimization measures are as follows: for all securities other than structured products, the threshold will be tightened from the current nine times to five times. If the input price of a buy order or sell order deviates from the nominal price by five times or more, the order will not be accepted; the relevant rules for structured products remain unchanged, and if the input price of a buy order or sell order deviates from the nominal price by nine times or more, the order will not be accepted.
It is understood that previously, in order to allow participants to further familiarize themselves with the relevant arrangements before the implementation of the "nine-times limit" optimization measures and to verify that their systems were ready, HKEX arranged a non-mandatory practice session and a pre-launch test on October 10 and October 31 respectively.
