Paul Chan pointed out that Hong Kong has strong professional service capabilities and can continue to support enterprises in listing in Hong Kong or developing business overseas.
On October 21, the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting concluded. Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said that representatives of all participating parties coordinated and communicated on macroeconomic policy, fiscal policy, and financial policy, and also discussed how to support infrastructure financing and digital infrastructure cooperation, as well as further promoting the Asia-Pacific as a region for economic development. Paul Chan Mo-po said that at the meeting, multiple member states each shared their views on the economic outlook and future development, and multiple economies expressed huge financing needs. Hong Kong can leverage its mature financial market advantages to provide support in listing and capital-raising, infrastructure financing, and even professional services. Paul Chan Mo-po pointed out that Hong Kong has strong professional service capabilities and can continue to support enterprises in listing in Hong Kong or developing business overseas; at the same time, Hong Kong's regulatory standards are aligned with international standards, and its legal system is globally trusted, helping to attract more overseas enterprises to develop in Hong Kong. Paul Chan Mo-po described the meeting as fruitful, setting a clear direction for future cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. All economies also unanimously agreed that in the face of global challenges such as geopolitics, high energy prices, and public finance pressure, innovative approaches should be used to promote inclusive infrastructure and economic development. He said that through the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting, participants can better understand Hong Kong's unique status under "one country, two systems." The immediate beneficiaries are visitor numbers and their spending. He believes the significance of the event lies more in the attitudes and understanding of foreign business and political leaders toward Hong Kong, and also said that he introduced the first five-year plan to participants. He is confident that in the exchanges with participants over the past two days, they feel positive and optimistic about Hong Kong's development and economy.
