Ping An Insurance (02318) builds China's first full-cycle brain health service, preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease through "medical-insurance collaboration"
At the event, Ping An Insurance (02318) released China's first brain health service management program.
On October 21, the "Building a Memory Defense Line, Protecting the Health and Well-being of SeniorsAlzheimer's Disease Active Management and Brain Health Services Seminar" was held in Beijing. At the event, Ping An Insurance (02318) released the country's first brain health service management plan, leveraging its "integrated finance + healthcare and elderly care" strategic advantages to build a full-cycle, closed-loop service system covering "screening, treatment, rehabilitation, safety, and payment," promoting "early screening, early diagnosis, and early intervention" for Alzheimer's disease and contributing to the Healthy China initiative.
Wu Jing, Director of the Chronic Disease Center at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Wei Chang, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Health Management Association, attended the event along with representatives from Ping An Group and its subsidiaries Ping An Life, PA GOODDOCTOR, Ping An Health Insurance, and Peking University Healthcare. At the event, Ping An Insurance launched the "One Together Love Alzheimer's Disease 'Million Guardians' Public Welfare Action," with plans to implement regular early screening for Alzheimer's disease in 30 communities in Beijing in the first phase and provide medication assistance to patients in financial difficulty.
Shifting from "passive treatment" to "proactive health," moving Alzheimer's disease prevention and control upstream
Data shows that by the end of 2025, China's population aged 60 and above has exceeded 323 million, and the number of patients with senile dementia, primarily Alzheimer's disease, continues to grow, while related prevention and treatment still face enormous practical challenges: 95% of patients are diagnosed at the mid-to-late stage, missing the golden intervention window; annual care costs of 120,000 yuan create a heavy burden; and specialists are severely scarce across society, with supply far lagging behind demand. In 2025, the country officially implemented the "National Action Plan for Responding to Senile Dementia," which explicitly proposes to basically establish a comprehensive and continuous prevention and control system by 2030.
"To address the chronic disease challenges brought by aging, our core approach must shift from 'disease-centered' passive management to 'health-centered' proactive whole-process governance," said Wu Jing, Director of the Chronic Disease Center at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at the seminar. Regarding key chronic diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, she emphasized that the prevention and control threshold must move upstream, break traditional compartmentalization, shift from "single-point breakthroughs" to "systematic integration and joint prevention and control," comprehensively promote the implementation of full-chain services covering "prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and management," and implement precise and personalized early intervention.
Traditional medical approaches alone cannot fully solve the problem; bringing in professional social forces and jointly building a full-chain ecosystem through multi-party collaboration has become an inevitable trend.
Chen Yao, General Manager of Brand Communications at Ping An Group, introduced that addressing elderly health issues such as Alzheimer's disease cannot rely solely on "treatment as a safety net" but must also rely on "advance prevention, whole-process management, and continuous protection." Ping An fully leverages its "medical-insurance collaboration" advantages to build a distinctive insurance payment + "four-reach" service network (online, to hospitals, to homes, to enterprises), establishing a complete healthcare and elderly care service ecosystem. Taking the 2026 "Service Year" as an opportunity, Ping An is actively enriching brain health services and product offerings to help customers shift from "passive treatment" to "proactive health management," thereby solving the prevention and control challenges of brain health issues such as Alzheimer's disease.
Deepening medical-insurance collaboration, pioneering the "screening-treatment-rehabilitation-safety-payment" full-chain closed loop
At the event, Xi Tongzhuan, Deputy General Manager of PA GOODDOCTOR, presented the Ping An brain health service management plan in detail. With the goal of "preventing disease, managing minor illnesses, and supporting major illnesses," the plan breaks the limitations of traditional medical solutions and creates a distinctive "screening, treatment, rehabilitation, safety, and payment" full-cycle service closed loop.
Specifically, in the early screening stage, the plan builds a multi-dimensional early screening matrix from basic to advanced, allowing users to complete cognitive assessments, genetic testing, and biomarker screening online at home, enabling early detection and early evaluation. In the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation stages, the plan covers hundreds of specialty partner hospitals nationwide and expert resources at the associate chief physician level and above, providing direct access to renowned doctors and accompanying medical visits, as well as direct purchase of cutting-edge targeted drugs; it also partners with Peking University Healthcare Rehabilitation Hospital to combine digital training with remote professional guidance, making rehabilitation more convenient for patients. In terms of home safety, to ease the caregiving pressure on family members, the plan includes smart hardware such as millimeter-wave monitoring radar, enabling 724-hour non-intrusive safety protection with second-level response, safeguarding home safety. In the payment stage, the plan builds comprehensive coverage spanning both "healthy + ill" scenarios and launches the Wanjia'an Lifetime Guardian Plan, which combines annuity insurance, critical illness insurance, medical insurance, and nursing insurance products with brain health services to provide financial and service support for patients' treatment and care, easing the prevention and treatment pressure on patients and their families.
Xi Tongzhuan stated that Ping An, leveraging its "integrated finance + healthcare and elderly care" strategic layout, leading insurance service capabilities, comprehensive "four-reach" medical resources, and professional medical large-model platform, has innovatively launched the brain health service management plan. This is a deepened exploration of medical-insurance collaboration and also provides a market-based model for full-cycle management and care of Alzheimer's disease.
Launching the Alzheimer's Disease "Million Guardians" Public Welfare Action, carrying out regular early screening
Prevention is the most cost-effective and effective health strategy. Ping An Insurance has continuously carried out medical public welfare initiatives over the years to promote inclusive healthcare. At the event, Ping An Group, Ping An Health Insurance, PA GOODDOCTOR, Ping An Life, Peking University Healthcare, and the China Social Assistance Foundation jointly launched the "Alzheimer's Disease 'Million Guardians' Public Welfare Action," with plans for the "One Together Love" charitable trust under Ping An Health Insurance to invest 1 million yuan in special funds for regular early screening in 30 communities in Beijing and to provide one-year medication cost assistance to eligible patients in financial difficulty. In addition, the public welfare action will simultaneously release brain health full-disease-course health science videos on platforms such as Xuexi Qiangguo, helping professional medical and health knowledge reach more members of the public.
Effectively meeting the people's growing health needs is what the times require and the people desire. Ping An Insurance stated that the Ping An brain health service management plan is an important step in bringing the medical-insurance collaboration model deeper into specialty diseases. In the future, Ping An Insurance will gradually extend into the full brain health field, including stroke, Parkinson's disease, and depression, and through professional medical management and care plans and customized exclusive insurance offerings, help build a more complete, more inclusive, and more professional health protection system, contributing Ping An's strength to building a balanced, inclusive, high-quality, and efficient Healthy China.
