As the digital ID management system for power batteries is implemented at an accelerated pace, the power battery recycling industry is expected to enter a new stage of standardized and digital development.
As the power battery digital ID management system accelerates its implementation, the power battery recycling industry is expected to move toward a new stage of standardized and digital development. According to a report by People's Daily Overseas Edition on October 20, China has initiated the establishment of a power battery digital ID management system, which, through unified coding and full-lifecycle information tracking, enables power batteries to be "traceable in origin and trackable in destination." By 2030, the comprehensive utilization volume of retired power batteries is targeted to reach one million tons or more. According to reports, the power battery digital ID will record 96 items of information, including 54 basic information items, 24 operation and maintenance information items, and 18 recycling information items, and will run through the entire battery lifecycle via a 24-digit code. With the launch of the Shanxi Guoxin Energy Corporation automotive power battery traceability information platform, production information, operation and maintenance records, and recycling histories of retired batteries will become easier to query, helping recycling companies determine whether batteries are suitable for cascading use or dismantling and regeneration, while also enhancing the traceability of the sources and destinations of recycled materials. The report cites ENVISION GREEN (01783) as an example to introduce its layout in the field of power battery recycling. It is understood that the company's recycling network covers Europe, the Americas, and Asia, with more than 70 service locations; its battery processing facilities adopt fully automated battery material production lines, combining intelligent identification technology and intelligent dismantling processes to achieve full-chain processing from collection, safe discharging, and intelligent dismantling to efficient material recycling. Against the backdrop of gradually improving industry regulation, the technical capabilities, processing efficiency, and compliance management levels of power battery recycling companies are expected to attract further attention. The digital ID system helps promote information transparency in the recycling process and provides support for the standardized processing of retired batteries and for recycled materials to enter supply chains with higher compliance requirements. For ENVISION GREEN, its global recycling network and automated processing facilities are expected to support the company in adapting to upgraded industry standards and seizing market opportunities in power battery recycling. In addition, a relevant person in charge of ENVISION GREEN stated in the report that the company has passed three management system certificationsISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001and that its non-hazardous waste density has decreased by 50% compared with the FY2023-2024 baseline, completing the set target ahead of schedule; the company was also included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2026. The company stated that it will continue to use green technologies to serve the cause of power battery recycling in the future. Overall, as the power battery digital ID system gradually advances, the industry is expected to accelerate the establishment of a traceable and recyclable green recycling system. ENVISION GREEN's layout in global service networks, automated processing, and green technologies provides it with certain competitive advantages in the process of industry standardization.
