Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) is in talks to acquire Decart AI at a valuation of about $7 billion; Anthropic walked away from a roughly $6 billion acquisition in September.
According to people familiar with the matter, Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) is in talks to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart AI, in a deal that could value it at around $7 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The people said the acquisition could be completed soon if the talks do not fall apart.
According to PitchBook data, Decart has raised more than $400 million in venture funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Radical Ventures, and was valued at nearly $4 billion in May.
In September of this year, Anthropic decided to abandon its acquisition of Decart AI. The developer of the Claude chatbot had previously negotiated to acquire Decart for about $6 billion and had completed due diligence on the target company.
Decart was founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers: brothers Dean Leitersdorf and Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev.
