Horizon Robotics and NVIDIA Corporation together account for about 50% of the market share, forming a competitive landscape in which a global chip giant and a domestic intelligent driving technology company lead together. It is worth noting that since the beginning of this year, the gap between Horizon Robotics and NVIDIA Corporation has narrowed significantly from 35.9 percentage points in January-February to 10.4 percentage points in August, further consolidating its leading position as the industry's second place. The top-tier competitive landscape in China's intelligent driving chip market continues to evolve, and the "dual-strong" lead of NVIDIA Corporation and Horizon Robotics is becoming increasingly clear.
The "dual-strong" landscape continues to consolidate, and the gap between Horizon Robotics and NVIDIA Corporation has narrowed significantly
Since 2026, Horizon Robotics' intelligent driving chip market share has continued to climb, and its industry ranking has steadily improved. In January-February, Horizon Robotics' market share was 9.3%, ranking fourth; in March it rose to 11.6%, jumping to third; in April it further increased to 13.6%, surpassing Tesla, Inc. to enter second place; in August its market share further rose to 19.75%, an increase of more than 10 percentage points from the beginning of the year, continuously consolidating its position as the industry's second place.
In terms of installation growth, Horizon Robotics has shown strong and sustained growth momentum. Starting in March this year, Horizon Robotics' chip installations achieved positive month-on-month growth for six consecutive months. The continuously growing installation scale has further driven Horizon Robotics' market share increase and accelerated the narrowing of the gap with the industry leader. In January-February, NVIDIA Corporation led Horizon Robotics by 35.8 percentage points with a 45.1% market share; by August, their market shares were 30.2% and 19.8%, respectively, and the share gap had narrowed to 10.4 percentage points, shrinking by about 25 percentage points during the year, further highlighting the "dual-strong" leading landscape.
At the same time, Horizon Robotics' lead over subsequent manufacturers has further expanded. Compared with July, in August NVIDIA Corporation, Horizon Robotics, and Huawei still firmly held the top three market positions, but the installation gap between Horizon Robotics and NVIDIA Corporation narrowed from 103,000 units to 84,000 units, while the gap with third-place Huawei expanded from 10,700 units to 40,000 units. Chasing NVIDIA Corporation ahead while expanding its lead behind, Horizon Robotics is further consolidating its position as the leader in domestic intelligent driving chips through continuously growing installation scale and market share. Another set of statistics on self-owned brand passenger vehicles also highlights Horizon Robotics' market competitiveness. According to the "Blue Book on Large-Scale Application of Autonomous Driving in China" released by Xinhua News Agency's China Economic Information Service, in the self-owned brand passenger vehicle intelligent driving chip (full-stack) market, in the first half of 2026, Horizon Robotics' full-stack intelligent driving chip market share reached 31.94%, retaining first place in the industry; in the self-owned brand passenger vehicle urban NOA function-equipped chip (high-level) market, Horizon Robotics' share reached 22.82%, jumping to second place in the industry. It is expected that in the next year, Horizon Robotics' direct market share combined with extended market share will top the high-level intelligent driving chip market.
Horizon Robotics Journey chips surpass 15 million in mass production, scale advantages accelerate realization
The continuous rise in Horizon Robotics' market share is backed by the accelerated release of the large-scale mass production capability of the Journey series chips.
In September this year, Horizon Robotics officially announced that cumulative mass production of Journey intelligent driving chips exceeded 15 million units, making it China's first automotive intelligent chip to achieve large-scale pre-installation mass production and the highest cumulative shipment volume. Since starting pre-installation mass production in 2020, Horizon Robotics took 5 years to go from 0 to 10 million units, while it took only 12 months to go from 10 million to 15 million units, with mass production scale continuing to accelerate and expand.
As Horizon Robotics' new-generation intelligent driving computing platform, the Journey 6 series covers full-stack intelligent driving needs from basic assisted driving to high-level urban NOA, and, with the advantage of deep software-hardware synergy, continues to promote the large-scale popularization of intelligent driving capabilities across vehicles in different price bands. At the same time, Horizon Robotics' HSD full-scenario assisted driving system continues to enter mass production on vehicles, promoting the company's upgrade from a chip supplier to an integrated software-hardware intelligent driving technology platform.
As of now, Horizon Robotics has established cooperation with more than 40 automobile brands, including all of China's top ten automakers, and Journey series chips have cumulatively empowered more than 8 million vehicle owners. The company has cumulatively won design wins for 500 mass-produced vehicle models, including nearly 130 design wins in the mid-to-high-level intelligent driving field, with total design wins in hand exceeding 20 million units. As Journey 6 series and HSD cooperation projects gradually enter mass production cycles, the continuously expanding model reserve is expected to further growth momentum for chip installations.
Domestic intelligent driving chips accelerate their rise, open ecosystem builds long-term competitiveness
The continuous increase in Horizon Robotics' market share not only demonstrates the strength of domestic intelligent driving chips in global top-tier competition, but also confirms the competitive advantage of its deep software-hardware synergy and open ecosystem model.
At present, Horizon Robotics has linked more than 200 ecosystem partners worldwide and deepened cooperation with global leading Tier 1 suppliers and industry partners such as Bosch, Denso, and Coretronic, continuously expanding into self-owned brands, joint venture brands, and overseas markets. Relying on an open ecosystem and global supply chain cooperation, Horizon Robotics is accelerating a virtuous cycle from technological innovation to large-scale mass production and then to market share improvement, building long-term competitive barriers. As the Journey 6 series, HSD, and global cooperation projects accelerate implementation, they are expected to continue releasing growth potential in the future and drive domestic intelligent driving chips to achieve greater breakthroughs in global market competition.
