The State Administration of Foreign Exchange releases China's balance of payments for the second quarter and the first half of 2026. In the second quarter of 2026, China's current account surplus was 1,324.3 billion yuan, of which the goods trade surplus was 1,906.1 billion yuan, the services trade deficit was 378.9 billion yuan, the primary income deficit was 245.6 billion yuan, and the secondary income surplus was 42.8 billion yuan. The capital and financial account deficit was 1,075.0 billion yuan. In the first half of 2026, China's current account surplus was 2,607.9 billion yuan, and the capital and financial account deficit was 2,385.2 billion yuan.
In US dollar terms, in the second quarter of 2026, China's current account surplus was 193.7 billion US dollars, of which the goods trade surplus was 278.8 billion US dollars, the services trade deficit was 55.4 billion US dollars, the primary income deficit was 35.9 billion US dollars, and the secondary income surplus was 6.3 billion US dollars. The capital and financial account deficit was 157.1 billion US dollars. In the first half of 2026, China's current account surplus was 378.0 billion US dollars, and the capital and financial account deficit was 345.2 billion US dollars.
In SDR terms, in the second quarter of 2026, China's current account surplus was 141.8 billion SDR, of which the goods trade surplus was 204.0 billion SDR, the services trade deficit was 40.5 billion SDR, the primary income deficit was 26.3 billion SDR, and the secondary income surplus was 4.6 billion SDR. The capital and financial account deficit was 114.9 billion SDR. In the first half of 2026, China's current account surplus was 276.3 billion SDR, and the capital and financial account deficit was 252.1 billion SDR.
