On the news front, Costco's financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, ended August 30, showed that the group's Q4 total revenue rose 11% year-over-year to $95.72 billion, beating market expectations; adjusted earnings per share were $6.57, also beating market expectations, with tariff refunds contributing 15 cents to earnings per share. The data also showed that in the fourth fiscal quarter, membership fee revenue increased 7% to $1.85 billion, slightly above market expectations. During the same period, the growth in the number of paid members was below expectations. Executives said on a Thursday conference call with analysts that Costco's gasoline and travel businesses performed well, while home goods, small electronics, and beauty products also drove sales growth. Adjusted same-store sales for the quarter rose 6.7%, better than expected.
